Already sold out

Denis Bachelet

(Gevrey-Chambertin)

Denis Bachelet

Denis Bachelet owns a small, but excellent domain. His wines grow on about three hectare land are already sold out before they are filled in bottles. Denis Bachelet degustated with us two vintages from the wood that evoke lust for more.

Wood Samples:

We started with the 2002's which are still before the malo-lactic fermentation. They all show a very intense fruit and have good potential. Denis Bachelet is very content with this vintage. Of course it is far too early for clear statements, but we expect a great development equal to the 1999 which it perhaps could even surpass it.

Bourgogne 2002
Amazingly compact. Good fruit.

Cote de Nuits Village 2002
From a good climate from the Gevrey neighbour village Brochon. Aromas of blackberry and blackberry leaves.

Gevrey-Chambertin Villes Vignes 2002
Pips, red apples, wood of stalk.

Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux 2002
Amazingly compact. Good fruit.

Charmes-Chambertin 2002
Sweetness and complex fruit.

Subsequently we tried the 2001's from the wood. Of course there is more to say about them.

Bourgogne 2001
Very full, raisin aroma of cherries and good fruit. Excellent Burgundy.

Cote de Nuits Village 2001
Beautiful full. Deep fruit. Blackberry and elderberry. Good structure. Very recommendable.

Gevrey-Chambertin Villes Vignes 2001
Even much deeper. Caramel tones, red berry jelly and spicy notes. Good structures and in the moment of degustation relatively open.

Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux 2001
More closed. Strong tannin, dark fruit and vanilla components. Strong structure. Needs time.

Charmes-Chambertin 2001
More opulent and in the moment of degustation more open. Very dark. Toast aromas. Full fruit. Dark, intense and long lasting. Will become a great wine.
