Domaine Armelle et Bernard Rion
(Vosne-Romanée)
The domain Armelle et Bernard Rion is a rather big family business. The different wines generally speaking need some time to mature and count to the rather dark ones of their Appellations. Harvest took place between the 21st and 16th of September. Armelle Rion told us that the time of harvesting was very different this year depending on the vinter. They had been quite lucky and harvested dry grapes. the amount of sugar in the grapes was very high, they harvested very good quality and big quantity.
. There was a lot of work to do on the domain. we degustated with his mother a small cross-section.

Bourgogne Pinot Noir 1997
Light colour. Cherry like acidity, fruity. Siple Bourgogne of the next years. (40 FF)
Chambolle-Musigny Les Echezeaux 1997
A bit darker. Aromas of wood, blackberries and black currant. Good acidity. (90 FF)
Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Gruenchers 1994
Already firs orange edges. Lots of raspberry and dark berry in the fragrance and taste. Good acidity. A bit thin, Slender body, perhaps due to the vintage.(110 FF)
Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Damodes 1992
Slight orange edges. Spicy, cassis, choklet, mushrooms and fores soil. Full bodied tannin, good acidity, fruit a bit in the background. Terroir. (120 FF)
Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Damodes 1991
Similar, but very deep colour. More full bodied than the 92. Spicy. Plums, leather. Strong acidity. More fruit and body. Good complex Nuits. (130 FF)
