And the whites?

From Chassagne-Montrachet With Love

This year we mainly tasted the red wines of the Côte de Nuits. Due to a lack of time and the not so successful Cardonnay 1998 we refused to make dates with the Chardonnay-wizards of the Côte de Beaune. But to get at least a little impression of the vintage, we visited both wine-stores in ChassagneMontrachet where you can taste the wines of the local wine-makers and vinters. Tourism has increased during the last years and beside the traditional store, another one appeared with a huge parking lot in front seeming to satisfy the American tourists rushing through - since this year some money for tasting is demanded. Mainly becaus of the popularity of Chardonnay on the American market prices went up during the last years. Like the 97s the 98s also have very low acidity which makes them a bit plane and quicker consumable. According to our opinion the 97 is the better on of both vintages.
