In a Cellar of Nuits

Moillard-Grivot

(Nuits-Saint-Georges)

Town Plaza of Nuits-Saint-Georges

The small and charming town of Nuits-Saint-Georges is pretty much located in the middle of the way from Dijon to Beaune. Since our last visit, however, it seemed to have struggled to win a competition in disfiguring the town. The newly structured town plaza now looks like a modernistic graveyard. The place of Moillard-Grivot located at the through road N73 doesn't rate among the jewels of architecture, either, but its cellar is so impressive that we wanted to visit it every time. Also its wines. What you can taste here - without an advance reservation - is mainly really worth it. Besides the earthy, dark fruity wines of Nuits, wines from almost every Appelation of the Côte d'Or are stored. A good handfull are offered for degustation. Especially the wines from the domain of the house are often worth it. They are labelled as "Domaine Charles Thomas".
